The Route

The route travels from Brandy Hole Copse in North Chichester to West Dean, covering over 6km. It is mostly gentle slopes, paved and off road, apart from a quiet road section in Lavant. Making it perfect for families and beginners.

An easy access trail also runs on a section of the route, close to West Dean with a wheelchair ramp for to access the village.

The route follows the old Chichester to Midhurst railway line, the starting point is at the edge of the woodlands at Brandy Hole Copse Local Nature Reserve.

The spot where a Roman road crosses the route is marked by a sculpture depicting an army of spade-wielding Roman workers called the Chichester Road Gang.

After passing through Lavant the route then rejoins the old railway line to West Dean where it finishes and gives access to the village of West Dean with its whitewashed pub, thatched cottages, village store and café.

Enjoy and have fun!
